Streaks oust Dutchmen

Saratoga rallied from an early double-digit deficit to beat Guilderland 64-47 Wednesday in a Class AA boys’ basketball firstround playoff game in Saratoga Springs.

Andrew Stallmer scored a game-high 26 points to help the Blue Streaks dig out of an 11-point early hole.

Troy Berschwinger scored six of his 17 points in the first quarter to help the Dutchmen build the early cushion.

Ryan Farr scored eight points in the second quarter as Saratoga outscored Guilderland 20-10 to pull within one by halftime.

Sparked by Stallmer, Saratoga blew open the game with a 22-8 run to start the second half. Stallmer scored nine points during the run.

Mekeel Christian used a 12-2 run at the start the fourth quarter to beat Shaker 61-45 in a Class AA first-round game. With the game tied at 36, Oryan Dejesus sank a 3-pointer to trigger the run. Amarri Barnhill also made a shot from beyond the arc in the run. Dejesus and Terrence Robinson both finished with 18 points for Mekeel Christian. Zacharie Matulu and Jackson Rueckert combined to score 27 points for the Blue Bison . ... Burnt Hills jumped out to a big lead early and cruised to a 57-29 win over Scotia in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Ben Kline scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half to help stake the Spartans to a 27-8 lead at halftime . ... Evan Rainville sank four 3-pointers and finished with 23 points as Columbia edged South Glens Falls 58-56 in other Class A action. Brady Smith scored 21 points for the Bulldogs. Columbia led by eight at the half, but South High countered with a 24-11 run to start the second half.

Girls’ basketball: Hailey Monroe scored 17 points and Hannah Hoffman added 15 points as No. 3 Northville topped Saratoga Catholic 64-26 in the Class D quarterfinals. Addison Whitbeck scored 18 points for Saratoga Catholic. ... Carolina Williams scored 31 points and Ashley Ames added 28 points as Ichabod Crane crushed Broadalbin-perth 78-44 in the Class B quarterfinals.
