Donate cans of soup for church fundraiser
TROY — Celebrate the Super Bowl in a “souper” way: Drop off cans of soup through Feb. 11 at the Center Brunswick United Methodist Church, 990 Hoosick Road.
The church will forward the soup donations to local food pantries for those facing food insecurities in this cold season. Place donations in the elevator entrance of the church, the middle door just off the parking lot.
Chabad offers Advice for Life course
COLONIE — Colonie Chabad is offering a course entitled Advice for Life — The Rebbe’s Guidance for Leading a More Meaningful Life, for mental health professionals, psychologists or other therapists.
The course provides an overview of Kabbalah’s core teachings and how the ideas offer insights into everyday life, self-understanding and personal growth, said Rabbi Mordechai Rubin of Colonie Chabad, who will offer the new six-session course from the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute. The rebbe’s guidance refers to Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
Class options are on Zoom and 7 p.m. Monday. The first class is free to try and comes with dinner. The course starts Feb 5.

Community Bible Study Visitors Day is Feb. 8
HOOSICK FALLS — Tri-state Northeast
Community Bible Study, serving the Vermont, Massachusetts and New York areas, plans a visitors day from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8.
The class meets at Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church, 484 Hill Road and offers the chance to study the Bible in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. Classes meet weekly during the school year, both online and in-person.
The group is currently studying the book of Ephesians. Each class member receives a course book with a commentary and home study questions, which are discussed in small groups followed by a large group teaching session. Men’s, women’s and children’s groups are available.
