• Ronald Mcdonald House Charities of the
Capital Region's 23rd annual radiothon presented by Your Upstate Chevy Dealers continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday across all of Albany Broadcasting’s stations: FLY92.3, B95.5, 100.9 The Cat, JAMZ 96.3, MAGIC 590 AM/100.5 FM, Big Country 104.9/ 97.9. The radiothon began Friday. Last year’s event raised more than $150,000.
• Scott Ferguson has been named chief economic development officer for SUNY Cobleskill. In the newly created role,
Ferguson will lead efforts in driving economic development and opportunity, fostering innovation in the Mohawk Valley Region and expanding the scope of the college’s Institute for Rural Vitality.
• According to preliminary seasonally adjusted figures released this week by the state labor department, the number of private sector jobs in New York increased in December by 5,800, or 0.1 percent, to 8,261,500. The number of private sector jobs in the U.S. increased by the same percentage during the month.
• Stuyvesant Plaza in Guilderland plans a winter evening of shopping to benefit The Caring Closet Guilderland, which provides hygiene products to Guilderland school district students and their families. Tickets for the shopping crawl, which will take place 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, are $5 and may be purchased via Eventbrite.
• The Jan. 18 Albany
County Planning Board meeting has been rescheduled to 3:30 p.m. Monday at 449 New Salem Road, Voorheesville. The meeting can be attended in person or remotely by accessing albanycounty.com/departments/public-works/ planning-and-land-use
• A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Hometown Health Dental Clinic and tours of the 12,500-square-foot facility will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at 1108 State St., Schenectady.
• Beginning Saturday, the Cabin Fever Train will leave Utica’s Union Station at 11 a.m., travel to Remsen and return by 2 p.m. The service will also operate Jan. 28, Feb. 17 and 24, March 9 and 17, and April 6 and 13. Details: www.adirondackrr.com/cabin-feverlimited/
