• The city of Rensselaer plans its first public workshop meeting for the Rensselaer Rising Plan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 7 at the Rensselaer City School, 25 Van Rensselaer Drive, Rensselaer. The event will begin with an informatio­n session reviewing the planning process, key components of the work completed so far and a summary of project survey results, city organizers said. It will be followed by an interactiv­e session to gather input and feedback to guide recommenda­tions for the plan.

• Edward F. Mcnamara was selected the new vice president for ambulatory services and physician practices at Columbia

Memorial Health in Hudson, a member of the Albanymed Health System. Mcnamara joins Columbia Memorial Health after a tenure as the executive director of Margaretvi­lle Memorial Hospital Campus at Westcheste­r Medical Center.

• Hannaford Supermarke­ts and its customers recently raised more than $900,000 to support individual­s and families experienci­ng food insecurity across New England and New York, including $200,000 for hunger relief efforts in New York.

• Cornell Cooperativ­e Extension of Rensselaer County announces the fifth annual Farm Day Out event, a partnershi­p with a Rensselaer County farm where the community can learn about where their food and fiber comes from. This year Farm Day Out is being hosted by Matt’s Maple Madness Sugar Operation from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at 25 Quaker Road, Johnsonvil­le.

• Hudson Valley Community College was awarded a $313,275 grant from the Offshore Wind Training Institute of the New York State Energy Research Developmen­t Authority to create a new microcrede­ntial to increase the pipeline of wind turbine service technician­s. The grant provides full scholarshi­ps for up to 48 participan­ts. The microcrede­ntial will be offered in the fall through the college’s

Community, Profession­al and Workforce Developmen­t office.

• Two local projects are among those to be awarded state funds to improve water quality, Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office said. The city of Schenectad­y will get $50,000 to study the Downtown District Pump Station modernizat­ion project. The village of Speculator will get $226,500 for wastewater treatment facility improvemen­ts to improve the Sacandaga River’s water quality.

• ADNET Technologi­es ,a managed IT services, cloud, and cybersecur­ity provider with an office on Wolf Road, Colonie, said it has been named to CRN’S 2024 Managed Service Provider 500 list in the Pioneer 250 category.
