Woman hurt after crash accused in domestic incident

QUEENSBURY — A Fulton County woman who was released from the hospital last week after crashing into a boulder faces several charges related to a domestic incident moments before, Warren County sheriff’s officials said Friday.

The case began March 14 when deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Briwood Circle. An investigation determined that a 35-year-old woman from Johnstown assaulted a victim and later menaced the victim with a knife before leaving the scene, according to the sheriff’s department. She was found nearby a short time later, but drove off. A police pursuit was started but it ended after she left the town of Lake Luzerne in Warren County and entered the town of Corinth in Saratoga County.

Several minutes later, 911 dispatchers were called about a car crash on County Route 10 in Corinth. Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies found that the suspect had failed to maneuver past a sharp curve on the route near the intersection of West Mountain Road and hit the boulder and a tree before the car stopped. She suffered minor head and neck injuries and was hospitalized.

After being released from the hospital, March 22, she was arrested on charges stemming from the domestic incident, including the felonies of criminal contempt, criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated family offense, and misdemeanors of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, menacing and resisting arrest. She was arraigned and jailed in lieu of $2,500, Warren County deputies said.
