Kentucky (29-0) gets 46th SEC title

Virginia clinches ACC crown share

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Andrew Harrison and Trey Lyles each scored 18 points and top-ranked Kentucky rolled past No. 18 Arkansas 84-67 on Saturday to win the Southeaste­rn Conference regular-season title.

The long-awaited marquee matchup of the SEC’s top two teams belonged to the undefeated Wildcats (29-0, 16-0) on both ends as they earned their 46th league title and halted a three-game losing streak against the Razorbacks (236, 12-4). Kentucky’s leaguelead­ing defense held the conference’s top scoring team to 38 percent shooting and 12 points below its average.

The Wildcats meanwhile shot 48 percent from the field and outrebound­ed the Razorbacks 38-32, among other statistics, to extend their bestever start.

NO. 2 VIRGINIA 69, VIR

GINIA TECH 57: In Charlottes­ville, Va., Malcolm Brogdon scored 19 points and Virginia (27-1, 15-1) assured itself at least a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference regularsea­son championsh­ip. The Cavaliers started the day with a two-game lead over secondplac­e Duke with three games remaining in the regular season. Adam Smith scored 19 points to lead Virginia Tech (10-19, 2-14).

NO. 4 DUKE 73, SYRACUSE

54: In Durham, N.C., freshman Justise Winslow scored a season-high 23 points and Duke (26-3, 13-3 ACC) won its ninth straight. Tyler Roberson had 16 points for Syracuse (18-11, 9-7).

Jahlil Okafor added 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Blue Devils .

NO. 6 VILLANOVA 78, XAVI

ER 66: In Cincinnati, Kris Jenkins hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start a late run and Villanova (27-2, 14-2 Big East) rallied to beat Xavier for its 10th straight victory. Jalen Reynolds led Xavier (18-12, 8-9) with 15 points.

NO. 7 ARIZONA 63, NO. 13

UTAH 57: In Salt Lake City, Gabe York scored five of his 12 points in the final 2 minutes and Arizona (26-3, 14-2 Pac 12) scored the last eight points to rally past Utah (22-6,

12-4 Pac-12). Hollis-Jefferson, who had 10 points, made 3 of 4 free throws in the final minute and York hit two more to clinch the Wildcats’ 13th straight win over Utah.

NO. 8 KANSAS 69, TEXAS

64: In Lawrence, Kan., Perry Ellis had 28 points and 13 rebounds and Kansas (23-6, 12-4), who remained a game clear of second-place Oklahoma with two games left in the Big 12 race. Isaiah Taylor finished with 17 points for Texas (17-12, 6-10).

KANSAS STATE 70, NO. 12

IOWA STATE 69: In Manhattan, Kan., Wesley Iwundu capped a 22-9 run with a twohanded slam to lift Kansas State (15-15, 8-9 Big 12) past Iowa State. Georges Niang led Iowa State (20-8, 10-6) with 21 points.

NO. 11 WICHITA STATE 74, NO. 10 NORTHERN IOWA

60: In Wichita, Kan., Ron Baker scored 17 points and Wichita State (27-3, 17-1) beat Northern Iowa (27-3, 16-2) to wrap up the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championsh­ip. The Panthers had won 16 straight.

NO. 14 MARYLAND 66,

MICHIGAN 56: In College Park, Md., Melo Trimble scored 19 points and Maryland (24-5, 12-4 Big Ten) beat Michigan (14-14, 7-9). The Terrapins finished 18-1 at home — the only defeat against Virginia on Dec. 3. Zak Irvin led Michigan with 15 points.

NO. 15 NORTH CAROLINA 73, MIAMI 64: In Coral Gables, Fla., Brice Johnson had five dunks and 22 points to help North Carolina (20-9, 10-6 ACC) end a streak of four consecutiv­e losses against Miami (18-11, 8-8), which lost at home for the sixth time this season.

NO. 16 OKLAHOMA 67, TCU

60: In Norman, Okla., Buddy Hield had 21 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for Oklahoma (20-8, 11-5 Big 12). Kyan Anderson and Trey Ziegler each scored 16 points for TCU (17-12, 4-12).

NO. 17 LOUISVILLE 81,

FLORIDA STATE 59: In Tallahasse­e, Fla., Wayne Blackshear scored 18 points and Montrezl Harrell added 16 in Louisville’s (23-6, 11-5 ACC) victory. Montay Brandon scored 13 points for Florida State (15-15, 7-10). Three days after he scored 30 points in the final 4:38 of a loss at Miami, FSU’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes had two points in the first half and finished 5 of 16 for 12 points.

NO. 19 BAYLOR 78, NO. 20 WEST VIRGINIA 66: In Waco, Texas, Taurean Prince scored 20 points, Rico Gathers had 17 points and 10 rebounds to help Baylor (22-7, 10-6 Big 12) win its fourth consecutiv­e game. Freshman guard Jevon Carter made seven 3-points and finished with 25 points for West Virginia (22-7, 10-6).

DAYTON 59, NO. 22 VCU 55: In Richmond, Va., Jordan Sibert scored 19 points and Dayton (22-6, 12-4 Atlantic 10) held off Virginia Commonweal­th (21-8, 11-5).

NO. 23 BUTLER 67, DEPAUL

53: In Rosemont, Ill., Kellen Dunham scored 24 points and Butler (21-8, 11-5) beat DePaul (12-18, 6-11).

No. 1 UCONN 87, MEMPHIS

24: In Storrs, Conn., Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 21 points in her final home game to lead the Huskies (28-1, 17-0 American), who secured their second straight regularsea­son championsh­ip in the American Athletic Conference. Ariel Hearn had seven points on 3-of-20 shooting to lead Memphis (13-15, 7-10), which made just 11 of its 57 shots from the field.

IOWA STATE 76, No. 3 BAYLOR 71: In Ames, Iowa, senior Fallon Ellis scored a careerhigh 18 points and unranked Iowa State (18-10, 9-8 Big 12) handed the Lady Bears (26-3, 15-2) their second straight loss.

No. 7 OREGON STATE 73, No. 24 CAL: In Corvallis, Ore., Sydney Weise had 23 points, including a season-high seven 3-pointers, and Oregon State (26-3, 16-2) clinched the Pac-12 regular-season title outright by beating California (21-8, 13-5).

No. 14 PRINCETON 79, BROWN 67: In Princeton, N.J., Michelle Miller had 20 points off the bench and the Tigers (27-0, 11-0) moved within a win of the Ivy League record for best starts ever. Jordin Alexander had 25 points for the Bears (10-16, 4-8).

No. 18 CHATTANOOG­A 64, ETSU 42: In Chattanoog­a, Tenn., Ka’Vonne Towns hit four 3-pointers as she and Jasmine Joyner scored 14 points apiece for the Mocs (263, 14-0). Shamauria Bridges scored 13 points for the Lady Buccaneers (19-10).
