Red Wings topple front-running Preds

Jagr leads Florida; Flyers top Rangers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tomas Tatar broke a tie on a power play at 9:06 of the third period as the Detroit Red Wings earned a 4-3 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

Tatar carried the puck toward the Nashville net and fired a backhander that deflected off Predators defenseman Roman Josi’s stick and past goalie Pekka Rinne.

The Predators, with a league-high 89 points, have lost consecutiv­e games in regulation time for the first time this season.

PANTHERS 5, SABRES 3: In Sunrise, Fla., Jaromir Jagr made his Florida debut and Scottie Upshall scored the goahead goal with 5:58 left in the Panthers’ win over Buffalo.

Acquired from New Jersey on Thursday for two draft picks, the 43-year-old Jagr had three shots on goal in a little over 17 minutes of ice time to help the Panthers outshoot the Sabres 47-14.

FLYERS 4, RANGERS 2: In Philadelph­ia, Michael Del Zotto’s short-handed goal 1:19 into the third period lifted Philadelph­ia to a victory over New York.

Matt Read, Michael Raffl and Wayne Simmonds also scored for the Flyers. The Rangers lost in regulation for the first time in 11 games (7-1-3).

SENATORS 4, SHARKS

2: In San Jose, Calif., Mike Hoffman scored a power-play goal to break a tie midway through the third period as Ottawa beat San Jose for its fifth straight win.

Hoffman added an emptynet goal, and Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone also scored for the Senators.

WILD 3, AVALANCHE 1: In Denver, Justin Fontaine broke a second-period tie, and Devan Dubnyk stopped 33 shots, leading Minnesota over Colorado.

Erik Haula and Jason Pominville also scored for the Wild, which improved to 4-0 against Colorado this season.

BLUES 2, OILERS 1: In Edmonton, Alberta, Paul Stastny scored the winning goal with 5:40 left and added an assist as St. Louis edged Edmonton.

Dmitrij Jaskin also scored for the Blues who have won two in a row.

CANADIENS 4, MAPLE

LEAFS 0: In Montreal, Manny Malhotra scored his first goal with the Canadiens and Carey Price made 30 saves for his sixth shutout of the season as Montreal beat Toronto.

David Desharnais had two goals, and Tomas Plekanec also scored for Montreal, which has won four in a row.

BRUINS 4, COYOTES 1: In Boston, Milan Lucic, Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand each had a goal and an assist in helping Boston send Arizona to its ninth straight loss.

Zdeno Chara added a power-play goal and an assist for the Bruins.

DEVILS 2, BLUE JACKETS 0: In Columbus, Ohio, Andy Greene scored, Travis Zajac added an empty-net goal and Cory Schneider made 33 saves for his fourth shutout of the season as New Jersey beat Columbus.

HURRICANES 5, ISLANDERS 3: In Uniondale, N.Y., Jay McClement scored twice and Cam Ward made 21 saves as Carolina beat New York for its third straight win.
