LIGHT & EASY
Shane Wallin’s ready to go on tour
Shane Wallin wanted to maintain his authenticity with his latest release.
And it took him four years to get to the right point.
“I found a personal freedom,” he says. “And overall, (I’m) feeling good about life. This album is a ‘Sunday morning’ record. Anyone can listen and it feels light and easy.”
Wallin, a New Mexico native, released his album, “Shane,” nearly four months ago, and as the new year is beginning, he’s ready to take the album out for a spin on a tour.
Wallin recorded the album at Red Star Recording Studio in Silverlake, Calif., as well as Stable 21 in Sweden. He also spent time recording in New Mexico.
Wallin says he reached out to producer and engineer Stacy Parrish for help on the album.
Parrish has worked with T-Bone Burnett, Neko Case, Elvis Costello and Randy Newman.
Parrish also maintains studios in New Mexico and Sweden and became a contributor to both the songs and the sound.
“Stacy was living in Los Angeles and he moved back to Sweden,” Wallin says. “When I contacted him, he wanted to record in Sweden, which is why a lot of the work was done there. It was amazing to work with someone who has accomplished so much. He added his touch to my songs and it became a great partnership between both of us.”
Wallin tracked the core of the demos in New Mexico.
He then flew to Silverlake, and that’s where he worked with Jack Casady and Wally Ingram. Casady has worked with Jefferson Airplane and Ingram has worked with Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow.
“Getting the album done has been a journey for me,” he says. “I’ve started to write with a broader appeal while still maintaining the personal side to music. I can’t wait to get on tour for this album because it’s been a labor of love for me.”
