Lavender fest, blues legend and PBS show’s NM ties
Ana Gasteyer doesn’t think about the reach a show will have. But she’s grateful for shows like “The Kate” on PBS.
The show gives entertainers a chance to showcase their vocal abilities. And the comedian will be on the season premiere, airing tonight on PBS.
“I didn’t have a sense of what the show could do,” she says. “Being on PBS, it means a lot and it helps let people know that I can sing.”
In fact, Gasteyer went to Northwestern University, where she majored in voice.
Gasteyer, who is the daughter of former Corrales Mayor Phil Gasteyer, has had a busy year.
In February and March, she was touring around the country. She then had to stop everything and start promoting the Netflix series “Lady Dynamite.”
She will continue to shoot the series through the summer, and come fall, she will be out on the road again.
“What I do on the stage is a very old-fashioned thing,” she says. “I would have been happy to be born in the supper club era.”
