Richard Ernest

Torres Age 90, passed away peacefully on May 15th in Paso Robles, CA where he was living with his daughter and her family. Richard graduated early from St. Michaels High School in Santa Fe in 1942. From there he enlisted in the Army, fought in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII and went on to serve our country until 1946. Upon his return he worked for his Dad at the family owned store and later enrolled in UNM where he received a Bachelors in Business Administra­tion in 1952. He was hired by the Federal Government working for the AEC, Atomic Energy Commission and later the DOE, the Department of Energy where he retired in 1979, one of the top ranking Hispanics at that time.

Richard was born and raised in Albuquerqu­e, NM, son of Benito and Carlota Torres. He was the fourth of seven children. He is survived by his sister, Pauline Blechner and her husband Al Blechner; daughters, Carla Torres Hansen and her husband Greg Hansen, Ana Torres; four grandchild­ren, Gabriel Guerin, Joshua Guerin, Nickoelle Reniere and Jesse Cruz; along with four great grandchild­ren, Gabriel Guerin, Joseph Guerin, Juliann Guerin and Adam Guerin.

Funeral services will be held on June 30th. Mass will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe at 10:30 am. Ceremony will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Reception will follow at his daughters home immediatel­y afterwards.

We want to extend a special thank you to the team of Central Coast Hospice that took amazing care of our Dad in his final days. Their kindness and follow up with our family will always be appreciate­d.
