Binkert, Alice Groves

Alice Groves Binkert, born June 9th, 1932, to Don and Mary D’Arcy Groves in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, passed peacefully on August 9, 2016.

In 1954 she married Don Binkert, a marriage that lasted 33 beautiful years until Don’s death in a highway accident in 1987.

Alice attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She studied law at Coastline and Chapman in Orange County, California, and also graduated with Cum Laude honors from the University of New Mexico. Alice co-managed Bond Enterprise­s with Don in Garden Grove, CA for 25 years, and returning to New Mexico for family reasons, became case manager in the New Mexico Human Services Department until her retirement in 2001. She retired to Leisure Word in Seal Beach, California and was active in yoga and the local Republican Women’s Club. Her favorite place was reading at the pool complex.

Alice was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy. She is survived by her brother Jack Groves and wife Rebecca of Alameda, NM; son Steve Binkert of Seal Beach; daughter Christy James and her husband Harry in Apple Valley, CA; three grandsons, Jeff, Chris and Sean; one granddaugh­ter, Sarah and seven great-grandchild­ren.

Cremation has taken place. Private family services are being held in Huntington Beach, California; donations should be made to your charity of choice.
