Robert Michael Hasaka was born on the 4th day of July 1930 in Wilkes Barre, PA.

He passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2016 surrounded by his family.

He was always proud to have been born on his country’s birthday. A country he loved and proudly served for 27 years. His parents were Michael and Veronica and his siblings are Michael and Bernadine.

Bob entered the Air Force in 1948. He had to get permission to join as he was not quite 18. While on a coffee break, he met his future wife Gigi and it was love at first sight. She too was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. After their brief courtship, Bob married the girl of his dreams in June of 1951. They were transferred to Mitchell AFB Long Island right outside of NYC where their son, Michael was born. Bob was sent on to Korea on assignment during the conflict. Their next tour of duty was Clark Air Base in the Philippine Islands where their daughter, Melanie was born. (Something about those islands) Bob was the Base Golf Champion that year. With a new daughter and being base champ was like having won the Masters! Bob was then assigned to Sac Headquarters, Omaha. While there he applied and was accepted as an ROTC Instructor at University of Omaha. All this while filling his dream of obtaining his college degree after 14 years. Then off to Wiesbaden, Germany. Last stop for our family, Albuquerque, NM where Bob retired as a Chief Master Sergeant.

After his retirement Bob began a new career at Bradbury and Stamm Construction where he worked for 22 years and retired as Administrative Vice President in 1996. He cherished his years at Bradbury. Bob was one of the original members of the Byzantine Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He was the driving force to their success.

He lived the life as a wonderful husband to his wife, Gigi; the best father ever to his children, Michael and Melanie; and grandchildren, which he called his Grand Girls, Tarrah, Genna, Amanda, and Kara; his son-in-law, Bruce and daughter-in-law, Laura. Two grand dogs and three great-grand dogs and one great-grand cat.

Rosary will be recited and the Mass will follow Tuesday, August 23, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1837 Alvarado Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
