LTC Eugene Edward Gomez - Died 8/ 17/2016 in Albuquerque, NM

Born and raised in Silver City NM, Gene was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, Served 26 years as a NM Guardsman where he Commanded National Guard Units in Lordsburg , Deming, and Las Cruces. He held administrative positions with the 2nd Battalion, command and control headquarters, and the 111th Air Defense Brigade Headquarters. After retirement from the US Armed Forces, Gene went on to work as a Construction Manager and Auditor for the NM Highway Department District 111 Office. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 49.

Gene earned BA and MA Degrees from Western New Mexico University, and was an active board member of the WNMU Alumni Association Albuquerque Chapter.

Gene was also a member of Legacy Church where he was involved in the Lift Senior Ministry.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Mary Frances Gomez; brother Richard Gomez, and grandson Zackary.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla Gomez and family of ABQ NM; son Kenneth Gomez and wife Mary; grandchildren Tammy and Darel Gomez; great-grandchildren Robert, Bonnie, Hanna, Nathaniel, and Levi of T or C NM. Uncle Arthur Pascoe; sister Frances and husband Danny Vasquez from Silver City NM. Brother Walter & Gail Gomez from Las Cruces NM, and numerous step children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and two dogs Bambi and Baby T.

Celebration of life ceremony will be conducted at Legacy Church East Campus, 4701 Wyoming Blvd, Albuquerque NM 87109, on August 24, 2016 at 10:00am. Ennichement of cremated remains will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 pm, with full military honors.
