1945-2016 Johnny B. Torres, left us after a fierce battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones on August 16, 2016. Johnny was born in Tome, NM, on July 18, 1945, and lived in Albuquerqu­e with his family.

He graduated from Los Lunas High School, was a drummer with Los Jesters, was the County Clerk for Valencia County, and retired as a financial analyst for the City of ABQ.

He and his wife, Lenise recently celebrated their 36th anniversar­y and were blessed with two children, Jessica Sutherland (husband, Kenny; daughters Julia and Madilyn), and Chris Torres (wife, Amanda; kids Isaiah and Hannah); he was a very proud "Tata." Johnny’s also survived by Ramon Torres (brother); Teresa Rojas, Connie Padilla, Cecilia Sanchez, Frances Sanchez (sisters); and dozens of adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Johnny was preceded in death by his mother and father, Concepcion and Pablo Torres; aunt, Tillie Baca; and brother, Eppy Torres.

A public viewing will be held at Sangre de Cristo Church (8901 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM, 87112) on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 5:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 6:00 p. m. A final viewing will be held at Immaculate Conception Church (7 Church Loop, Tome, NM, 87060) on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Tome Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Center at John Hopkins. As an avid UNM Lobo fan, we’re asking that you wear red to the services celebrate Lobo JT’s life. Johnny’s family would like to thank the many friends, family, and neighbors who have been so supportive. We take great solace in knowing that Johnny is now running around (on two legs) and making friends in heaven.
