Help with government contracts
Small businesses and entrepreneurs looking to do business with the federal government should check out the Small Business Administration’s new website: certify.sba.gov. The site aims to further streamline and improve the application processes.
“SBA is committed to being as nimble and agile as the small businesses we serve,” SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet said in a statement.
The site allows users to complete SBA forms online, reducing the burden of printing, scanning and uploading.
The site also puts the contracting certification process for women-owned small business programs entirely online.
There’s also a tool called “Am I Eligible?” that asks a small business to answer approximately fifteen questions to determine if they’re a fit for certain specialty programs.
The new website will eventually serve additional SBA contracting programs.
Contreras-Sweet noted that last fiscal year the federal government awarded the highest percentage of contracting dollars to small businesses in U.S. history, totaling more than $90 billion. Those resources supported more than half a million jobs in communities across this country.
