Eye on manufacturing

New government data due out today should provide insight into the health of the nation’s manufacturing sector.

The Commerce Department’s tally of business orders for long-lasting manufactured goods is expected to show that orders rose in July for the first time since April. Orders slumped in June by the largest amount in nearly two years.
