Director of golf retires from NMSU

-

Dan Koesters, 57, retired as director of golf at New Mexico State University Golf Course after 18 years.

“I just completed 27 years in the university system, having coached at Idaho and Washington State, and it was time, in my opinion, to do something new,” he told the

Journal. “I think you can only do the same job with the same passion for so long. It’s time to turn the reins over to Jason White here. It doesn’t mean I’m done with golf. I’m just done at NMSU.

Koesters, a graduate of Alamogordo High (1977) and NMSU (1981), has been one of the section’s premier players and most well-known national member for years.

“If I find the right fit, I’m definitely interested in getting back in golf,” he said.
