There weren’t many sightings of O’maury Samuels. But the Los Lunas Tigers didn’t really require much of his services Saturday afternoon.

Visiting Los Lunas’ defense limited Rio Grande to 44 yards of total offense, and the Tigers’ offense scored almost at will as they remained unbeaten with a 52-0 prep football victory over the Ravens at Milne Stadium.

Sophomore running back Noah Gum scored on touchdown runs of 45, 42 and 44 yards in his first start for Los Lunas (5-0) as senior standout tailback and Michigan commit Samuels got limited touches. Gum finished with 149 yards on six carries.

Samuels played for less than a quarter but still made an immediate impact, racking up 85 yards on only five carries and scoring on a shifty 42-yard touchdown run. Sophomore quarterback Nick Gaerlan threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to senior Martin Trujillo and junior fullback Jacob

Luna added a 6-yard touchdown run.

CHRISTIAN 21: At Wilson Stadium, the Bobcats scored 15 consecutive points after falling behind and earned a nondistrict road victory over the Huskies (2-3).

Bloomfield scored a long touchdown on a fourth-and-13 to open the scoring, and after a turnover, padded its lead to 13-0.

Isaiah Escajeda’s 66-yard touchdown reception for Hope Christian, the first of three TDs for him, cut the deficit to 13-7. He caught another TD later in the half as the Huskies nudged in front 14-13.

The Bobcats (2-2) kicked a field goal at the end of the half to lead 16-14, then added a pair of touchdowns, including one off a blocked punt, to go in front 28-14 in the third quarter.

Escajeda’s third TD catch cut the deficit to seven with a few minutes left. He finished with 10 catches for 142 yards. ST. PIUS 51, LOVINGTON 0: At Nusenda Community Stadium, it was a day for the Sartans’ defense and special teams to shine.

Vince Montoya and Jared Vigil both had pick-6 touchdowns, and Austin Shull returned a blocked punt for another score as St. Pius (4-1) destroyed the Wildcats (0-5). MAYFIELD 35, CARLSBAD 6: At the Field of Dreams, senior tailback Isaac Vance made his long-awaited return to the lineup for the Trojans (3-2, 1-0 in 3-6A), and didn’t disappoint, scoring three TDs and rushing for 132 yards in Mayfield’s District 3-6A victory over the Cavemen (2-3, 0-1).
