GAMES TO WATCH WEEK 6

- — James Yodice

1. Los Lunas (5-0) at Artesia (4-1), 7 p.m. Friday: A tantalizing matchup between two of 5A’s best. The Tigers’ RB O’maury Samuels is presented with the biggest stage of his prep career with this trip to the Bulldog Bowl, where Artesia will try to avoid — gasp! — losing two in a row at home. 2. Piedra Vista (5-0) at Manzano (2-2), Wilson

Stadium, 1 p.m. Saturday: The Panthers’ debut as a 6A program has been a big splash so far, but this will be a solid test for PV, whose best win this year was a road victory at the Wool Bowl in Roswell against Goddard. Jordan Byrd showed some flashes for Manzano in its loss to Rio Rancho. 3. Mayfield (3-2, 1-0 in 3-6A) at Oñate (3-2, 1-0), Field of Dreams, 7 p.m. Friday: Are the Knights for real? Here is where we begin to get much more clarity on that question. Oñate’s veteran defense will have to face Trojans RB Isaac Vance, who for all intents and purposes

made his 2016 debut Saturday against Carlsbad, and scored three touchdowns. Welcome back, Isaac. 4. St. Pius (4-1) at Miyamura (4-0), 7 p.m.

Friday: Are the Patriots truly for real? As with Oñate, more light will be shed on Miyamura after Week 6. I’ll bet most of you didn’t know that the Pats are one of only two undefeated teams remaining in 5A, along with Los Lunas. And they handed St. Pius a tough loss in Gallup two years ago. (In truth, Miyamura hasn’t beaten anybody of note this season.) 5. Centennial (4-1, 1-0 in 3-6A) at Carlsbad (2-3, 0-1), 7 p.m. Friday: The Hawks were fortunate to escape Hobbs’ upset bid Friday night, and this will be the only road trip for Centennial in district play. Carlsbad has enough playmakers to hang with the Hawks for a while, but for 48 minutes?
