Red Bulls earn playoff spot by beating Impact

HARRISON, N.J. — Daniel Royer scored his first MLS goal in the 60th minute and the New York Red Bulls clinched a playoff berth for the seventh straight year with a 1-0 victory over the Montreal Impact on Saturday night.

DYNAMO 3, TIMBERS 1: In Houston, Mauro Manotas converted a penalty kick in the 34th minute, added the go-ahead goal in the 73rd and completed his hat trick in the 85th to lift Houston past Portland. UNITED 4, ORLANDO CITY 1: In Washington, Patrick Mullins scored two goals and D.C. United beat Orlando City.

RAPIDS 3, WHITECAPS 3: In Vancouver, 10-man Vancouver took advantage of Colorado’s late own goal to tie the Rapids. UNION 1, TORONTO FC 1: In Toronto, Justin Morrow scored in the 70th minute and Toronto FC tied Philadelph­ia.
