CUBS WIN THE WORLD SERIES

Chicago wins the series 4-1 over the Detroit Tigers. It is the club’s second World Series win, having also won in 1907.

Henry Ford begins production of the Model-T.

Halley’s Comet is visible. The comet, which appears every 75-76 years, won’t be seen again until 1986.

The Cubs win the NL pennant but lose in the World Series to the Philadelphia Athletics.

They make many more World Series appearances (1918, 1929, 1932, 1935, 1938, 1945) but never win the title.
