ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals traded left-hander Jaime Garcia to the Atlanta Braves on Thursday for a trio of prospects, including second baseman Luke Dykstra, the son of former All-Star Lenny Dykstra.

The Cardinals also got righthanders John Gant and Chris Ellis in the deal.

Garcia has spent his entire injury-interrupted career with the Cardinals, going 62-45 with a 3.57 ERA.

DODGERS: The Dodgers have agreed to one-year contracts with first basemanoutfielder Scott Van Slyke and pitcher Chris Hatcher, avoiding arbitration. Van Slyke’s deal is worth $1,325,000 and Hatcher’s contract is worth $1.25 million.

METS: Left-hander Steven Matz said doctors have given him permission to return to his regular offseason routine, which will allow him to begin throwing for the first time since undergoing surgery in October to remove a bone spur from his elbow.
