WARMING UP

Music, dance, holiday lights help set mood for the season

- ADRIAN GOMEZ Arts Editor

Zach Quinn is one to try anything when it comes to music.

The lead singer of the punk band Pears is currently on a solo tour in support of his debut self-titled album. Yet there is one thing he wishes he could accomplish on this acoustic tour.

“I would love to play Pears songs,” he says. “There is really no good way. We can get the songs to sound all right for about half, and then it gets too hardcore for an acoustic set.”

Quinn released his album in May digitally and it finally came out physically this month.

“I haven’t seen any of the liner notes or anything,” he says. “It’s just as big of a surprise as it will be for the people who buy it. I’m excited.” Quinn says there will be more solo material coming up in the future and will record at the end of this tour. Meanwhile, he’s looking forward to getting back to Albuquerque for a show.

“This tour is small, but it’s all places that I wanted to play,” he says. Quinn will perform at Sister on Wednesday, Dec. 7. To read more, see Page 23.

The holiday season is in full swing, and there are plenty of family events. The annual Twinkle Light Parade, sponsored by the city of Albuquerque, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 in Nob Hill. Staff writer Rozanna M. Martinez has the details in her story on Page 22. And the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center will host its second annual Pueblo Shop and Stroll tonight. The event will feature Native American dances by bonfire, as well as events for children. It also offers an opportunity to buy handmade gifts. See more on Page 21. If you want to avoid the colder weather, take a look at the Sueño Flamenco show at the South Broadway Cultural Center on Thursday, Dec. 8. The event will feature eight numbers and students from the Public Academy for Performing Arts.
