Morgan boosts 13th-rated Indiana

Highlands women rip Adams State

BLOOMINGTO­N, Ind. — Juwan Morgan scored a career-high 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting and finished with 10 rebounds, and De’Ron Davis scored 14 points as the Hoosiers (6-1) rolled to an 83-60 victory over SIU-Edwardsvil­le.

“Juwan rebounded for two tonight,” coach Tom Crean said. “He came out and brought it.”

The Hoosiers didn’t start the game firing on all cylinders. Indiana (6-1) didn’t make its first basket until 16:12 remaining in the first half, missing its first eight attempts. Trailing 4-0, the Hoosiers shook off the slow start when Zach McRoberts hit a 3-pointer from the corner that ignited Indiana. The Hoosiers would finish the final 15 minutes of the half outscoring SIUEdwards­ville 40-17.

In Alamosa, Colo., Brandon Sly and Shane Johnson scored 19 points apiece to help the Grizzlies (4-3) beat the Cowboys (2-3).

Ron Lawton led Highlands with 22 points and seven rebounds.

Also in Alamosa, Ari Baca scored 20 points and Shania Ratliff had 18 points to lead Highlands (2-2) to a victory over Adams State (1-4).

The Cowgirls trailed 16-10 after the first period, but then outscored ASU in the second 23-10 to take control.

In Wailuki, Hawaii, BYU’s Kalanie Purcell scored 16 points to lead the Cougars (4-2) to a victory over UNLV (5-1) in the Maui Wahine Classic.

In Laramie, Wyo., behind a career-high 21 points from junior Liv Roberts, Wyoming improved to 5-2 with a win over Southern Utah.

In Fort Collins, Colo., Ellen Nystrom had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead Colorado State (4-3) past SLU (2-5).

In Colorado Springs, Erin Whalen scored 19 points to lead Vanderbilt (6-1) past AFA. The Falcons (1-6) were led by Kailin Davis with 17 points.

The Aggies men will play host to Long Beach State at 7 tonight in Las Cruces.

Coach Dan Monson’s 49ers (1-8) had the nation’s top strength of schedule through Thursday, according to the KenPom ratings.

The Ags are in the middle of a three-game home stand that began Wednesday with a 78-70 win over Air Force.
