Knapp, Marian D.

-

Marian Darleen left this earth peacefully as family of the heart joined in a circle next to her bed singing old favorite hymns on Sunday evening, November 27, 2016.

She was born in Hartford, Kansas on June 13, 1928. After the birth of her four brothers the family moved to Tucumcari, NM. Marian met J. W. (Dub) Knapp and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Their only son David was born when Dub was stationed in Germany. Marian made friends easily wherever the family moved. She was the most generous person with friends and strangers from around the world opening their home to all. Marian was most proud of her role in starting the first Alzheimer’s support group in Albuquerque in the 1980’s. She fought tirelessly for support for the families of people with this devastating disease. Marian enjoyed working in civil service in various capacities throughout her lifetime. After Dub’s death she continued to make new friends and support those in need.

Thanks to all the caretakers and staff at Brookdale Valencia and High Desert Hospice for your loving care of Marian and her "adopted" family.

Marian was preceded in (Farmer) Knapp death by her parents, loving husband Dub, and most cherished son David.

She is survived by one brother, many nieces and nephews, and so many people too numerous to mention who proudly know they are family. We will all miss her supportive presence in our lives.
