Vigil, Carmen

-

Carmen Vigil, loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend was called to her eternal dwelling where she was reunited with her husband Rey, son Roland, Mother and Father, brothers, sister and son-in-law on November 29, 2016.

She left this world ready to join her maker and the communion of saints. Carmen lived a full, creative, professional and loving life as an articulate leader and with a community-minded style “that was uniquely her”. Her strength, talent, energy and diligent work were reflected in her professional initiative when the State of NM commenced automation in the days of “secretary of the year awards.” She was knighted in the Knights of Jerusalem and had a love of world travel, especially to the Holy Land. Carmen was co-founder of Los Unidos of SF, and an active member of Catholic Daughters. She served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She loved opera and volunteered for over 12 years with the opera youth groups, sang in church choirs, community choirs and took piano lessons. Whenever needed, Carmen was there. Her family and friends meet her passing with gratitude for her love and all the special blessings she bestowed on us.

She is survived by her children – Patricia Rivera (+Tom), Barbara Lowder (Dennis), Rey Vigil (maryann), Michael Vigil (Jana); Grandchildren: Andrea and Tomas Rivera, Steven Lowder, Aaron, Jacob and Ben Vigil; her beloved sister Josie Sandoval, and many nephews, nieces and friends. Carmen touched our lives and will forever live in our hearts. Peace to all who knew and loved mom.

Funeral services will be held on December 7, 2016 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church, 11 College Ave., Santa Fe where a rosary will be recited at 9:30 am followed by a mass at 10:00 am. A reception will be held following the mass at the parish center. Interment will be at the National Cemetery at 2:15 pm.
