No. 6 Mississipp­i State rallies from 17 down, nips Iowa State

AMES, Iowa — Morgan William scored 24 points, Victoria Vivians had 16 and sixth-ranked Mississipp­i State overcame a 17-point deficit to beat Iowa State 85-81 in overtime Saturday.

Roshunda Johnson’s 3-pointer with 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter forced overtime for the Bulldogs (8-0). They trailed by 11 with 10 minutes left.

Seanna Johnson had 21 points with eight rebounds for Iowa State (5-1). NO. 19 FLORIDA 83, LONG BEACH STATE 53: In Tempe, Ariz., Ronni Williams scored 18 points to help Florida win big in the Arizona State Classic. Florida (6-1) will play Arizona State, a 71-42 winner over Boston University, in the championsh­ip game today.

Jessica Gertz scored 12 points for Long Beach State (3-4).

NO. 21 COLORADO 85, IDAHO STATE 56:

In Boulder, Colo., Alexis Robinson scored 14 of her 16 points in the first quarter and Colorado rolled to its eighth straight victory to start the season. Saylair Grandon had 11 points for Idaho State (2-5).

ENMU 72, No. 7 WEST TEXAS A&M 67:

In Canyon Texas, Daeshi McCants scored 20 points and Mikaehla Conner added 19, including the 3-pointer with 1:47 to play that gave the Greyhounds (4-2, 2-0 Lone Star) the lead for good. Sasha Watson’s 23 points led the Division II nationally ranked WTAMU (6-2, 1-1) team.

UT PERMIAN BASIN 75, WNMU 63: Valley High grad Jordan Gutierrez scored 36 points and shot 14-of-19 from the field, but Western (4-4, 0-2 Lone Star) fell to UTPB (4-4, 1-1).

FORT LEWIS 79, NMHU 48: In Durango, Colo., Kaylani Maiava scored 21 points, but on 5-of-22 shooting, and the Cowgirls (2-4, 1-1 RMAC) shot 21 percent from the field in a loss to FLC (5-1, 1-1).
