Phillip Wade Hyde, born July
14, 1935 in Taft, Texas to Ethel and Wade Hyde passed into Glory on December 20, 2016.
Phil was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years Sharon.
He is survived by his brother Ken Hyde, and his sister Juanita Kinyon, daughters Marcia and husband Pat Birmingham, Leslie and husband Joe Rettinger, and Karen and husband Michael Hobbs. His grandson Ryan Rettinger was the delight of his heart.
Phil spent his entire life serving as a pastor in the Foursquare denomination in churches located in Grand Island, Nebraska, Burbank, California and Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a child, he was raised in Encinitas, California. He was an accomplished Boy Scout and this experience developed in him a great love of the outdoors. As an adult summer vacations were usually spent camping in the Durango/ Silverton area. He loved to fish and spent many hours fishing the rivers and lakes of New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Of particular enjoyment was the coordination of an annual trip to Molas Lake just outside of Silverton Colorado every summer. Phil loved people and always worked to get a smile from everyone. He loved to tell funny jokes or stories. His good nature paved the way for lifelong friendships with many.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Presbyterian’s Hospice program for their kind and compassionate care of Phil in his last year.
A celebration of his life will be held on December 27th at East Gate Church, 12120 Copper NE. Viewing at 10:00 AM with the service immediately following at 11:00. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery,7999 Wyoming NE.
