Johnson, Bill G. (Billy)

Mr Bill (Billy) G. Johnson, devoted husband of Carol M. Johnson, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Dec. 30, 2016. Billy was born Feb. 7, 1935 in Cedartown, Georgia. He had a full life with many careers, including service in the Army, chicken farming, real estate, and several independent selfemployed businesses.

His parents Rembert and IV (Chandler) Johnson, and siblings CW Johnson, Herbert Johnson, Annie Lou Johnson, Myrtle Ellis and Lenna Tanner all preceded him in death.

His brother Harrell Johnson of Grand Junction Colorado is the only remaining sibling. Bill has a daughter Linda Davis and a grandson Dave Davis of Marietta Georgia. Bill has a son Sam Johnson-Maurello and his husband Mike Johnson-Maurello of Beach Park, Illinois. His step-family Susan and Steve Gonzales, and granddaughter Emily M. Gonzales all of Albuquerque, NM, and granddaughter Melissa K. Olson and husband Ben Olson of Denver Colorado. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bill was very popular at his place of residence Brookdale Valencia independent living facility in Albuquerque. He played in the poker club, was active in the members association, and held parties for the residences - including a fish fry and hushpuppy dinner which he did all the cooking! He was an active gardener, and loved traveling and fishing. He also enjoyed playing games, including Bingo and Rummy Cube & the slot machines.

Bill Johnson will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Friday, Jan. 13th at 10:30 am. A reception will follow at Brookdale Valencia, 300 Valencia SE, Albuquerque, NM from 1:30-2:30 pm.
