SPORTS SPEAK UP!

-

RE: BOOING FANS, I’m also with you. You can boo the refs, or a way-too-hard foul or mouthing off by an opponent player or coach, but booing our guys should be off-limits. They don’t need that – and it will not motivate them in any way. Feel free to boo the coach – but at a news conference or talk show — not at the Pit. … — Bill (Beta/Gamma/Delta fan?)

I WOULD SUGGEST most who write in to Sports Speak Up! are NOT D-1 basketball head coach material. Neither am I. However, from the obvious atrocities I can only glean this: 1. Fire Krebs and hire a new AD who has tentacles reaching far and wide with regard to business and coaching. 2. Find a HC who has an idea of what and how practice translates to GAMES. 3. As boosters, be ready to take in another 2-3 years of mediocrity to allow for the exodus of current talent we have. — Mike M. Abq

GOOD OL’ BOY Noodles won’t win much this year going forward because every head coach in the league has seen the Lobos on film. Credit that he came up with

different defenses to confuse Nevada, but was then badly outcoached in the second half ... Everything else being even ... Neal will stay status quo and the opposing coach will make changes in the second half to beat them. Very sad for the UNM players who have the talent to challenge for a MW title. — MarkD

LOBO MEN’S basketball fans who are booing should be ashamed of them self. Section R upper rows no booing happens. (Keep) trying boys things will turn around. — Dennis Section R

JIMMY BURCH of the Fort Worth StarTelegram claims Texas produces the most D-1 talent in the nation. California, Texas and Florida produce the most D-1 athletes. Reading the cowboy columnist reminds me that I am glad I lived in Big D! — Larry the VOL

DEAR COACH NEAL: Apparently effort can be coached. Kathy Olivier can do it at UNLV, ask Coach Bradbury. — MAL, Albuquerque
