Tischhauser, Daniel Richard
1950-2017 Daniel Tischhauser passed away at his home in Parker, Colorado on January 13, 2017 following a long struggle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Dan was born in St. Louis, Missouri on Oct. 2, 1950 to Jack and Bernadine Tischhauser & was the 2nd of 7 children. He attended Queen of Heaven Elementary School, Del Norte High School & the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Dan was an outstanding athlete & played on a Little League team (coached by his dad) & was a valuable member of the Del Norte basketball team throughout high school. He was an intrepid backpacker and could frequently be found hiking with his dad and brothers in the Wiminuche Wilderness. Dan was also a talented artist, builder and landscaper & created many fine home improvement projects over the years. Dan worked as a conductor for Amtrak from 1978 until his retirement in 2013. Previously, he worked for the ATSF Railroad. Dan met his wife Valerie (Pedersen), who also worked for Amtrak, on the California Zephyr in 1984 & they married on September 9, 1990. Their daughters are Tamra & Taylor. Dan is survived by his wife Valerie, his daughters, his father, Jack Tischhauser and his brothers and sisters: Jack Jr., Gretchen Concannon, Leanne (Josh) Simms, Kenneth, Robin (Helen) Tischhauser, and Niki Tischhauser (Andy Williams) and many loving nieces, nephews and other family members. During his courageous struggle against leukemia, in 2014 Dan received a bone marrow transplant from his sister Leanne. The leukemia returned in May 2016. Dan, Valerie and their girls spent many happy hours in the mountains of the Front Range in Colorado hiking, camping and enjoying life. He was a loving son, dad and brother and a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be so missed by all of us. We love you Dan.
