ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR AIMEE SMIDT, M.D. has been named Chair of the Department of Dermatolog­y in the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Smidt, a board-certified pediatric dermatolog­ist, has been in the department for seven years and the department’s interim chair since early 2016. She has a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University; a medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons; completed a pediatrics residency at the Texas Children’s Hospital; and completed a dermatolog­y residency and fellowship in pediatric dermatolog­y, both at Northweste­rn University.

MODRALL SPERLING is pleased to announce the firm’s new shareholde­rs. The are: Daniel M. Alsup is a member of the firm’s public finance group. He advises clients regarding a variety of public finance transactio­ns and matters. Daniel received his undergradu­ate and law degrees, magna cum laude, from the University of New Mexico. He has received recognitio­n as an “Associate to Watch” in Corporate/Commercial Law from Chambers USA.

Katherine M. Creagan focuses her practice in public finance including representi­ng issuers and underwrite­rs in revenue bond issues, general obligation bond issues, and special assessment district bond transactio­ns. She received her undergradu­ate degree, summa cum laude, from UNM and her law degree, cum laude, from Arizona State University. Katherine serves on the executive board of Women in Public Finance, Mountain Region chapter.

Spencer L. Edelman practices in the areas of creditors’ rights and commercial litigation. Spencer received his undergradu­ate degree, cum laude, from Macalester College and his law degree from the University of Arizona. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable David T. Thuma, United States Bankruptcy Judge in 2013-2014. Edelman was chair of the Young Lawyers’ Division of the State Bar of New Mexico in 2016.

Nathan T. Nieman focuses his practice in litigation and represents private businesses and public entities throughout New Mexico. His litigation experience includes personal injury, wrongful death, insurance, products liability and employment discrimina­tion. Nieman received his undergradu­ate degree, cum laude, from Seattle Pacific University and his law degree, magna cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law.

Christina C. Sheehan is a member of the firm’s Natural Resources Department and focuses her practice in the areas of water, mining, energy, natural resources and Native American law. She received her undergradu­ate degree from Vassar College and her law degree, cum laude, from the University of New Mexico. Sheehan serves as co-editor of Modrall Sperling’s Energy & Resources Notes newsletter.

Anna E. Indahl concentrat­es her practice in employment law, commercial litigation, products liability and legal malpractic­e defense. She received her undergradu­ate degree, magna cum laude, from Denison University and law degree from the University of Michigan. Indahl has achieved an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell based on peer reviews. She has also taught law-related courses to U.S. troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanista­n.
