Blue Jackets win in scorefest

Islanders knock off Capitals

NEW YORK — Seth Jones scored twice, and Alexander Wennberg had a goal and two assists as the Columbus Blue Jackets took a 6-0 third-period lead and held on to beat the New York Rangers 6-4 on Tuesday night.

Brandon Saad added a goal and an assist, and Nick Foligno and Matt Calvert also scored for the Blue Jackets. Joonas Korpisalo, starting in place of All-Star Sergei Bobrovsky, stopped 33 shots.

The Blue Jackets won for the sixth time in 13 games since a franchise-record 16-game winning streak.

ISLANDERS 3, CAPITALS 2: In New York, Ryan Strome and Johnny Boychuk scored in the third period, and Thomas Greiss made 28 saves as New York beat league-leading Washington.

Strome got his first goal since Dec. 31 to put New York up 2-1 6:31 into the period.

JETS 5, BLUES 2: In St. Louis, Mark Scheifele had a goal and an assist, and Jacob Trouba scored a key third-period goal as Winnipeg beat St. Louis.

Patrik Laine, Nikolaj Ehlers and Blake Wheeler also scored for the Jets, who improved to 12-4-1 within the Central Division and 3-0 against the Blues. Ondrej Pavalec made 24 saves.

PENGUINS 4, PREDATORS 2: In Pittsburgh, Patric Hornqvist scored twice and Matt Murray stopped 37 shots as Pittsburgh beat Nashville.

Trevor Daley and Chris Kunitz also scored for the defending Stanley Cup champions, who had lost two in a row. Sidney Crosby picked up an assist on Hornqvist’s first goal for the 994th point of his

career. PANTHERS 6, SENATORS 5: In Sunrise, Fla., Jonathan Marchessau­lt scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period to lift Florida over Ottawa.

With the score tied at 4, goalie Mike Condon tried to clear the puck from behind the net but lost control of it. Marchessau­lt grabbed the loose puck and poked it into the open net with 6:03 left to put the Panthers ahead 5-4.

WILD 5, OILERS 2: In Edmonton, Alberta, Tyler Graovac scored twice as Minnesota defeated Edmonton.

Jason Zucker, Zach Parise and Chris Stewart also scored for the Wild (33-11-5), which won its third game in a row and improved to 22-3-2 since the beginning of December.

BRUINS 4, LIGHTNING 3: In Tampa, Fla., Zdeno Chara scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and Tuukka Rask made 18 saves as Boston beat Tampa Bay for its first threegame winning streak since early December.

Boston also got goals from Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Frank Vatrano.

CANADIENS 5, SABRES 2: In Montreal, Max Pacioretty scored a hat trick and Carey Price made 37 saves as Montreal beat Buffalo.

David Desharnais and Paul Byron also scored for Montreal. Alexander Radulov and Phillip Danault each had two assists.

DEVILS 4, RED WINGS 3: In Detroit, Kyle Palmieri scored twice and Cory Schneider made 27 saves, helping New Jersey hold on for a win over Detroit.

Stefan Noesen gave the Devils the lead on their first shot into the game.

STARS 6, MAPLE LEAFS 3: In Dallas, Kari Lehtonen made 40 saves and five Dallas players scored in the first period to send the Stars past Toronto.

Dallas took a 3-0 lead on goals by Devin Shore, Radek Faksa and Lauri Korpikoski.

HURRICANES 5, FLYERS 1: In Raleigh, N.C., Sebastian Aho had his first career hat trick and added an assist, sparking Carolina to a victory over Philadelph­ia.

The win snapped a fivegame slide for Carolina.

KINGS 3, COYOTES 2: In Glendale, Ariz., Jake Muzzin took a pass in front of the net from Jeff Carter and scored a power-play goal with 1:49 to play, giving Los Angeles a victory over Arizona.

The loss snapped the Coyotes’ season-best threegame winning streak.
