No. 3 Kansas edges 2nd-ranked Baylor

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Josh Jackson had 23 points and 10 rebounds, then helped thirdranke­d Kansas prevent No. 2 Baylor from getting off a potential tying shot in the closing seconds of the Jayhawks’ 73-68 victory Wednesday night.

Frank Mason III added 19 points, including two free throws to seal the win, as the Jayhawks (20-2, 8-1) pulled a game ahead of the Bears (20-2, 7-2) in the Big 12 race. (4) VILLANOVA 66, PROVIDENCE 57: In Providence, R.I., Jalen Brunson 21 points as Villanova beat Providence.

Josh Hart added 17 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats (21-2, 8-2 Big East), who led by as many as 13 points in the second

TECH 48: In Charlottes­ville, Va., Devon Hall had 17 points as Virginia beat Virginia Tech.

57: In Tulsa, Okla., Troy Caupain hit a 16-foot jumper with 4.4 seconds left to lift Cincinnati

UTAH STATE 74, NEVADA 57: In Logan, Utah, Koby McEwen had 19 of his 26 points in the final 12 minutes as Utah State knocked off MWC-leading Nevada.

The Aggies (10-11, 4-6) made 11 of their last 13 shots and had an 18-6 run on their way to closing out the win. The Wolf Pack (18-5, 7-3) dropped into a firstplace tie with Boise State. FRESNO STATE 73, AIR FORCE 64: In Fresno, Calif., guard Deshon Taylor scored a game-high 25 points to lead Fresno State (14-8, 6-4) over Air Force (10-12, 3-6), which blew a 14-2 lead.

SAN DIEGO STATE 77, WYOMING 68: In San Diego, Trey Kell scored 18 points, Malik Pope had 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals, and the Aztecs (12-9, 4-5) earned their ninth straight home win in the series. Wyoming is 14-9, 4-6.
