Joel Dana Walton, age 72, our family’s rock, passed away January 31, 2017. Joel was known for his hard work ethic and dedication to his family and friends. He served for 23 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, and then worked as an engineer until September 2016 at Metatech. He had a great faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which comforted him to the very end. His hobbies included pinochle, gardening, square dancing with his wife, and spending summers working on his cabin in British Columbia.

Joel is survived by his beloved wife, Jan; his daughters, Tanya, and husband, Randall, Wendy, Angie, Maggie and husband, Steven and Dana; and eight grandchild­ren, Sydney, Brett, Alexis, Joel, Aidan, Mason, Brooklyn and Alayna; and his great-grandson, Oakley. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn. Also touching Joel’s life were many dear friends and co-workers.

Joel was predecease­d by his parents, Dana and Josephine Edna Walton.

Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Crest Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 18 County Rd A102 Edgewood, NM. Viewing will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Cedar Crest Ward Relief Society Room. Burial will take place Monday, February 6, 2017 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
