TOP PICKS FOR THE WEEK
An intriguing combination of Cirque du Soleil and the Iron Chef, “Cuisine and Confessions” is coming to the Lensic Performing Arts Center to tell stories through acrobatics and cooking.
Yes, you read that right. The 7 Fingers (or Les 7 Doigts, since they hail from Montreal) provides original music and stories that came from cast members’ memories, all while they tumble about and above the stage, and cook up food to spice up the scene. And what happens to the food? None of the publicity materials we’ve seen makes that clear ... .
The performance will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lensic, 211 W. San Francisco St. You can buy tickets ($48-$85) there, by calling 988-1234, or by going to www.ticketssantafe.org or www.performancesantafe.org.
SIDE-BY-SIDE: It’s still under the radar in Santa Fe, but the Coe Foundation for the Arts, 1590B Pacheco St., has an amazing collection of Native American arts and artifacts. It also hosts artists who give an up-close and personal look at their work and what it takes to create it. In a collaboration with the Institute of American Indian Arts, Coe is hosting one of its resident artists, Meghann O’Brien (Haida-Kwakwaka’wakw, Irish), who will discuss her textiles and others in the foundation’s collection. The presentation from 5-6:30 p.m. today is free.
LEGEND IN BLACK: Cash’d Out, hailed as one of the best Johnny Cash tribute bands ever, is coming back to Santa Fe for a performance 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Skylight, 139 W. San Francisco St. Close your eyes and it could be the real thing. Tickets are $18 in advance and $24 the day of the show. You can get them through www.holdmyticket.com or by calling 505-886-1251.
HEAVENLY MUSIC: When we think of harps, many of us think of angels. But maybe we should think of Celts. “Legends of the Celtic Harp” will bring their strings, along with stories, myths and history, when they come to Unity Santa Fe, 1212 Unity Way, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The trio of Patrick Ball, Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter have toured extensively through the U.S. You can hear them here for $20, with tickets available through www.brownpapertickets.com or www. unitysantafe.org, or by calling 989-4433.
