Kreps, William "Bill" Harvey

William "Bill" Harvey Kreps, age 95, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend, departed this earth on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bill was born August 6, 1921 in Sanford, Colorado, where he spent his youth. A true member of the Greatest Generation, he served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps (now the US Air Force), spending time in the South Pacific during the Second World War. In 1945 he married Edie (Stamps) in La Jara, Colorado, a union that lasted 67 love-filled years. Together with his family, Bill moved to California in the 1950’s, and spent 40 happy years there, where he was a parts manager for a Buick dealership and a devoted husband and father. Bill and Edie retired to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, in the 1990’s, where he lived out his days. Bill had many talents, and could often be found building and flying airplanes, working with model trains, painting landscapes and leaving his napkin drawings at restaurants across America.

He was preceded in death by his adored wife, Edie, his parents Noble and Oressa (Carter) Kreps and his brother Gene.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Linda (Lloyd) Downey and Becky Kreps, both of Rio Rancho; his grandson, Dave (Kim) Downey; granddaughter, Staci Downey; great-grandsons, Greg, Chris and David Downey and his brother Ken. He was dearly loved by all who had the good fortune to know him, and he will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2807 Cabezon Blvd. SE Rio Rancho, NM 87124. A service will follow at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Vista Verde Memorial Park at Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2:30pm at 4310 Sara Rd. Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
