Butler snaps Villanova’s home streak

Big second half lifts Nevada to key win

VILLANOVA, Pa. — Kelan Martin scored 22 points and fueled a stunning second-half rally to lead No. 22 Butler past No. 2 Villanova 74-66 on Wednesday night, snapping the Wildcats’ on-campus home winning streak at 48 games.

Kamar Baldwin added 15 points for the Bulldogs (22-6, 11-5 Big East), who have handed the defending national champion Wildcats two of their three losses this season.

Jalen Brunson scored 24 points and Josh Hart had 18 for Villanova (26-3, 13-3).

(3) KANSAS 87, TCU 68: In Lawrence, Kan., Frank Mason III scored 20 points, Carlton Bragg provided a big lift off the bench and Kansas (25-3, 13-2) pulled away in the second half and clinched a share of its 13th consecutiv­e Big 12 championsh­ip. (6) OREGON 68, CALIFORNIA

65: In Berkeley, Calif, Dillon Brooks hit a 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds to play to cap a comeback from 16 points down and Oregon kept its hopes alive for a Pac-12 title.

(7) LOUISVILLE 63: In Chapel Hill, N.C., Justin Jackson scored 21 points and North Carolina (24-5, 12-3 ACC) pulled away after halftime to beat the Cardinals (22-6, 10-5). SYRACUSE 78, (10) DUKE 75: In Syracuse, N.Y., John Gillon hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer for Syracuse (17-12, 9-7 ACC).

(23) CREIGHTON 66: In Omaha, Neb., Kyron Cartwright made a 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to give Providence (17-11, 7-8 Big East) the victory over the Bluejays (22-6, 9-6). MINNESOTA 89, (24) MARYLAND 75: In College Park, Md., Dupree McBrayer scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half and Minnesota (21-7, 9-6 Big Ten) topped Maryland (22-6, 10-5) for its sixth straight win.

NEW MEXICO STATE: The Aggies (23-4, 9-2 WAC) begin a three-game home stand that ends their regular season with a contest tonight vs. Utah Valley (7 p.m., 101.7 FM, ESPN3. com). The Aggies are in second place behind CSU Bakersfiel­d (19-7, 10-1).

NEVADA 85, BOISE STATE 77: In Reno, Nev., Marcus Marshall scored 26 points, Jordan Caroline added 21 and the Wolf Pack (22-6, 11-4) beat BSU ( 17-9, 10-5) in a first-place showdown.

Nevada trailed 41-33 at halftime but put up 52 points after intermissi­on to pull into tie with Colorado State, one game ahead of Boise State. AIR FORCE 81, UNLV 58: In Air Force Academy, Colo., Hayden Graham had 19 points and 11 rebounds as AFA (11-17, 4-11) routed UNLV (10-18, 3-12). UTAH STATE 81, SAN JOSE

STATE 75: In San Jose, Calif., Koby McEwen scored 23 points and Sam Merrill finished with 22 as Utah State (12-15, 6-10) held off San Jose State (14-12, 7-8).

Women

(1) UCONN 90, (23) TEMPLE 45: In Hartford, Conn., Napheesa Collier scored a career-high 31 points as UConn (27-0, 14-0) routed Temple (21-6, 11-3) to extend the program’s record winning streak to 102 straight games and clinch a fourth straight American Athletic title.

BOISE STATE 77, NEVADA 74: In Boise, Idaho, Yaiza Rodriguez scored 15 points as the Broncos (19-7, 9-6) edged the Wolf Pack (10-16, 4-11).

UNLV 52, AIR FORCE 38: In Las Vegas, Nev., Dakota Gonzalez had 17 points and nine rebounds as the Rebels (19-8, 10-5) moved into a second-place tie with Wyoming by routing the Falcons (3-22, 1-14). FRESNO STATE 59, SAN DIEGO STATE 50: In Fresno, Calif., Candice White scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs (1512, 8-8) past the Aztecs (9-17, 4-11). UTAH STATE 82, SAN JOSE STATE 78: In Logan, Utah, Rachel Brewster’s 22 points helped the Aggies (15-12, 8-8) edge the Spartans (10-17, 7-8), despite 37 points by Dezz Ramos.
