TIGERS COACH IN THE

RUNNING: National recognitio­n is coming to Bruce Gomez, Taos High School’s long-time crosscount­ry coach. The Tigers guru is one of eight cross-country coaches vying for the National High School Athletic Coaches Associatio­n national coach of the year award. The announceme­nt will come June 21 at the organizati­on’s annual awards banquet. Gomez has led the Tigers to six state championsh­ips, including the girls to the top rung of the 2016 meet.

STATE CHAMPS: Capital took the 5A runner-up trophy in last weekend’s state championsh­ip meet and Robertson finished third.
