Fat Tuesday Celebration changes venues every hour
Celebrate Fat Tuesday with the festive sounds of Partizani Brass and Babes, which will make several stops along Nob Hill. The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kaktus Brewing Co., which is sponsoring the event.
“There’s a lot of activity happening in Nob Hill, so we wanted to encourage other businesses to get involved,” Dana Koller, owner of Kaktus. “We enlisted Zinc, Kelly’s and Two Fools to be a part of it as well.”
The party will head to Kelly’s Brew Pub at 8 p.m., then moves to Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro at 9 p.m. and then to Two Fools Tavern at 10 p.m. It returns to Kaktus at 11 p.m. Kaktus will have a special release of its Maple Brown Love Story, made with
maple syrup and roasted malts and hops.
“Man, it is dynamite,” Koller said of the beer. “It’s really tasty, so that’s going to be our special beer for the evening.”
Kaktus will have its regular menu available, which includes gourmet pizzas made with game meats such as elk, duck and wild boar.
“We’ll get people pretty amped up
(at Kaktus),” Koller said. “Hopefully get people’s first drink going and maybe a little food and then after about 45 minutes to an hour, they’ll start heading up to Nob Hil and continuing the festivities. Obviously, a lot of people will be dressed up and kind of making some noise in hopes to get other people to start following them who might just be walking around that night.”
The procession will be led by Partizani Brass and Babes.
“They’re very community-oriented,” Koller said of the group. “They’re pretty large and can range up to 13 musicians. They are high-energy.”
