Marion Lee Miller passed away February 21, 2017 at home in Albuquerqu­e. Lee was born in Lebanon, Ohio on November 23, 1934 spending his childhood years on a farm just north of Lebanon. He received both a bachelors and master’s degree the of arts in the German Language and Literature from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He later continued his education at the University of Kansas where he achieved a doctorate in German language studies. Lee then moved back to Ohio where he taught German as a professor at the Miami University for over 25 years. During that period, Lee met and married his wife, Jan Augenstein Miller on May 30, 1970. They built a new house together on a wooded lot near Oxford, living there until they both retired in 1994. Following retirement, they moved to Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico where they establishe­d as home while traveling the world together. Lee visited over 110 countries during his lifetime. In addition to being a professor at Miami, Lee also was a fine woodworker, making many pieces including desks, tables and chairs. He also was an avid photograph­er, collector of glass, stamps, and Southwest Indian pottery. He was always interested in people regardless of country of origin or opinions. He just liked to communicat­e with people and could do a good job since he was fluent in many languages. Lee remained active and involved in the community until the last eight months of his life when he was battling lung cancer which ultimately took his life.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Jan Augenstein; parents, Harvey and Margaret Miller of Lebanon, OH; and brothers, Jim and Fred Miller of Lebanon, OH.

He is survived by his brother Jerry Miller of Lebanon, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

After cremation, his ashes are to be placed in the Columbariu­m at St. Andrew Presbyteri­an Church located at 5301 Ponderosa Avenue NE in Albuquerqu­e, NM.
