Janice Maureen Paris, a long-time resident of Albuquerqu­e, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, February 17, 2017 at the age of 72.

For over 40 years, Jan spent her career as both a classroom teacher and a reading specialist within the Albuquerqu­e Public School system. She also became a Certified Dyslexia Therapist and set up a work area in her home where she tutored both children and adults with learning disabiliti­es for several years.

Jan was passionate about the education of children. In the mid 1980s, she cofounded the Cross of Hope Lutheran Preschool in Taylor Ranch which continues to thrive today. The Lord was her life center and she lived each day to serve Him.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Paris, and her mother, Virginia Paris.

She is survived by her beloved husband of over 40 years, Michael Doherty, and their daughter, Suzanne Crider of Camas, WA and her husband, CJ, and their two daughters, Madelyn (9) and Abigail (4). She is also survived by her sister, Ronna, and her brother, Chris, and their families in Florida.

A Memorial Service will be held at Cross of Hope Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
