Ella M. Schroeder, age 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 3, 2017. She was born Ella Margaret Krienke to the late Caroline E. and the Late George C. Krienke, in Leader, Saskatchew­an, Canada. She became a naturalize­d citizen of the United States of America when her family moved to Bellingham, Washington. She grew up in Blaine, Washington and graduated from Blaine High School. She had two older sisters, Violet and Norma, who have since passed away. She worked at the Fort Lewis, Washington Army base where she met her husband, Albert Henry Schroeder, a sergeant in the Army, and they were married in 1945 in Olympia, Washington. Their first son, Stephen, was born at Fort Lewis. Their daughter, Christine, was born in Arizona. Their second son, Scott, was born in Nevada. She was employed with the School of American Research in Santa Fe for 16 years. She also conducted estate sales for banks, lawyers & individual­s for 26 years.

In the summer of 1970, she won a trophy in H/Super Stock after drag racing her 1966 Pontiac G.T.O. at Irwindale Raceway in California. She enjoyed a lengthy retirement in her Santa Fe home.

She is survived by her three children, Stephen Schroeder, Christine Hueston, and Scott Schroeder. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren Michael, Michele, and David.

Cremation has taken place and interment ceremonies will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., at 2:15pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the committal shelter.
