Lucero was the oldest of five children and took responsibility early on to help with her siblings’ care, making sure they were behaving, doing their homework and more. “I used to take my youngest sister with me and some folks actually thought she was my daughter,” she says.

She is a playful grandmother, often singing and dancing with her brood outside. “I know the neighbors around me probably look down into my yard and see this going on,” she says.

A wine lover, she enjoys tastings with friends and says she’s eager to further explore the scene around Corrales. “We tend to forget we have some great wines here in the state,” she says.
