Louisville women beat Clemson in ACC

Greyhounds defeated in Lone Star tournament

CONWAY, S.C. — Myisha Hines-Allen and Asia Durr both scored 17 points as No. 14 Louisville, the fifth seed, topped 13th-seeded Clemson 68-46 in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament Thursday.

Hines-Allen scored five points as the Cardinals scored the first seven points of the game and Hines-Allen and Durr had seven each for a 24-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Louisville (26-6) takes a six-game winning streak into its quarterfin­al today against No. 17 N.C. State, the fourth seed.

Clemson (15-16) got 11 points from Nelly Perry.

(16) MIAMI 87, GEORGIA TECH 71: Also in Conway, Keyona Hayes scored 16 points and Adrienne Motley 15 as the Hurricanes (22-7) defeated the Yellow Jackets (17-14) in another second-round ACC tournament game.

Emese Hof added 14 points for seventhsee­ded Miami, which spotted the 10thseeded Yellow Jackets (17-14) the game’s first basket then scored the next 11 points and led thereafter.

(21) SYRACUSE 83, NORTH CAROLINA 64: Also in Conway, Alexis Peterson made four 3-pointers and scored 29 points as Syracuse beat North Carolina in the second round of the ACC tournament.

The Orange (21-9) will play No. 13 Duke in the quarterfin­als. UNC is 15-16.

(22) DRAKE 98, MISSOURI STATE 91: In Des Moines, Iowa, Becca Hittner scored 22 points and Lizzy Wendell 21 as Drake extended its school-record winning streak to 18 games despite a 46-point performanc­e from Liza Fruendt of the Lady Bears (16-12, 12-5 Missouri Valley).

Drake (24-0, 17-0) will seek to become the first league team to go undefeated in regular-season MVC play when it takes on Wichita State on Saturday.

State women

TEXAS A&M KINGSVILLE 69, ENMU 67: In Allen, Texas, Kaylin Rohr scored 20 points, including a free throw with 7 seconds left, as the Javelinas (14-12) defeated the top-seeded Greyhounds (208) in the first round of the Lone Star Conference tournament. Mikaehla Connor led Eastern New Mexico with 16 points and four assists.

Top 25 men

(14) SMU 93, TULSA 70: In Dallas, Semi Ojeleye scored 26 points with a perfect night from the field as SMU (26-4, 16-1) clinched at least a share of the American Athletic Conference title with a victory over Tulsa.

The Mustangs can clinch the league title outright with a win when they finish the regular season at home Saturday against Memphis. Corey Henderson had 17 points for Tulsa (14-15, 8-9).

(18) CINCINNATI 65, HOUSTON 47: In Cincinnati, Gary Clark had 14 points and seven rebounds in Cincinnati’s balanced attack as the Bearcats (26-4, 15-2 AAC) rolled to their 26th straight win.

Houston (20-9, 11-6) came in with the second-best offense in the league but came away with its lowest point total of the season. Rob Gray led with 17 points.

IOWA 59, (22) WISCONSIN 57: In Madison, Wis., Jordan Bohannon hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 9 seconds left and Iowa (17-13, 9-8 Big Ten) capitalize­d on Wisconsin’s sloppy final few minutes with a 7-0 run to beat the Badgers (22-8, 11-6).
