NNMC LOSS: Despite 36 points from Demetria Clichee, Northern New Mexico College lost in the opening round of the Associate of Independent Institutions Conference tournament Feb. 24, falling to Rochester 76-75.

BASEBALL: Ball players aged 6-13 will have the opportunity to get instruction from noted trainers from the Albuquerque Baseball Academy at a satellite camp at the White Rock Little League fields on March 28. BASKETBALL: The Northern New Mexico College women’s basketball team is looking to fill some roster spots for next season at an open tryout for high school seniors and junior-college players on March 25. MORE RUNNING: Snow may still be on the ground, but registration has opened for the Red River High Mountain half marathon and 5K on May 20. The course follows the Red River into the area’s Upper Valley, where runners will be surrounded by high mountain peaks. For more information, see redriverhalfmarathon.net.
MORE HOOPS: Girls and boys teams in third through eighth grades can square off in the Spring Championship Challenge April 7-9 at the Northern New Mexico College Gymnasium in Española.
