LAS CRUCES FILM FEST, CONCERTS, FIERY FOODS SHOW ON TAP
Bob Schneider used to be able to write every day, all day.
He wrote a lot of songs during that time.
But all of that has changed.
“Now I have a family and two kids, and that means picking them up from school, and going to basketball games and making dinner and talking to them and that sort of thing, so that really cuts into my making songs time,” he says in an email interview. “Obviously my point of view has changed over the years as well. I don’t think I could write the same songs I wrote 20 years ago now. It would be kind of ridiculous, but I have this other perspective now, that I couldn’t have written about 20 years ago, so I’ll always have plenty to write about.”
Schneider will perform on March 10 at Skylight in Santa Fe.
He will be joined on stage with fellow songwriters Hayes Carll and Eliza Gilkyson.
“I think it’s going to be a round robin sort of deal, where we take turns trying to outshine each other for the 90 minutes or so that we’re on stage,” he says. “I can’t say it’s the funnest way to perform, but for the audience, it’s great, because everyone is really trying to get the better of the other two the whole time, so they are bringing their A-game the whole show. It’ll be a wonderful show for the audience to see.”
