John M. Sugg October 27, 1947 February 25,

2017

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, went home to be with our Lord after a brief battle with cancer. John is survived by his best friend, the love of his life, and his wife of 40 years, Patti (P. J.) Sugg; daughter, Shannon Schneider and husband, David, and their children, Trevor, Tessa, Taven, Justin and Brittany of Artesia, NM; son, John ( J.P.) Sugg and wife, Stephanie, and their children, Isabella, Conrad and Beau Sugg of Nogal, NM; sister, Christina (Tina) Fleming and husband, Mike of Kissimmee, FL; and brother, Stephen Sugg and fiancee, Jennifer Chase of San Bruno, CA. John is also survived by numerous extended family and countless friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Alyce Sugg; brothers, Thomas and Norman Sugg; and grandson, Colin Sugg.

John was a 1965 graduate of Highland High School. He worked his way through college receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico in 1973. He worked for Stromberg’s Men’s Clothing Store for 11 years, the Public Service Company of New Mexico for 24 years, and was an owner and H.R. Consultant for The Sugg Group, LLC for 17 years.

John was active in the Downtown Kiwanis Club, a long-time member of Our Lady of Annunciation Parish, and a lifelong Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Dodgers fan. He served his community in several capacities including volunteering for the Special Olympics, was President of the Hofheins Marcel Thomas Water Coop, and was a non-lawyer hearing officer for the New Mexico State Bar Disciplinary Board for over 25 years.

If a man’s worth is measured by the love he shared, the cheer he imparted, and the friends he kept, then John died a very rich man. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

A Rosary will be recited Thursday, March 9, 2017, 11:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m., both at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Honorary pallbearers are John Hudson, Gary Felicetti, John Menicucci Sr., Dave Van Pelt, Ken Burke, Dave Hahn, Rand Reinsvold, and Greg Van Cleave. A celebration of John’s life will follow at the German-American Club (he wasn’t very German, but they welcomed this Scot with open arms). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or Ronald McDonald House. Please visit our online guestbook for John at www.FrenchFunerals.com
