Dorothy Fay Henderson, age 93, passed away on March 28, 2017 in Ventura, California. She was born December 28,

1923 in Celina Texas to Ella Sue and Albert Burton Norris. Dorothy lived in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico for over

80 years. She married Ervin Claude Henderson on May 21, 1943. She was a graduate of Albuquerqu­e High School, class of 1943, a telephone operator, a homemaker, raised five children and assisted her husband with his business, Henderson Freight Service, for 32 years.

Dorothy had a love and gift for gardening and was a fabulous cook with her signature pie being pineapple pie. She was an excellent seamstress, was married at and worshipped her faith at the Albuquerqu­e Gospel Hall where she had many dear friendship­s over the last 70 years. Dorothy had a way about her that was filled with the utmost grace and kindness and was thoughtful­ly respected and loved by all! Her strength of character was impeccable and her faith in God solid and unwavering. She lived her life by example, and received much praise and admiration from her children and grandchild­ren.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Sam and Terri Henderson, Flora Vista, New Mexico, Dan and Mary Henderson, Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, Judy and Larry Mangione, Ventura, California, Priscilla and Jim Fiddler, Mission, British Columbia, Canada; son-in-law, Dale Rankin, Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren, Laurie Henderson, David Henderson, Jeremy Henderson, Zachery Henderson, Amber Kenton, Tamara Torres, Rachel Fiddler, Heather Garcia, Sarah Kerfoot, James Fiddler, Anthony Henderson, Shane Mangione; and sixteen great-grandchild­ren; siblings, Nellie Baker, Jean Roberts, Justice Burton (JB) Norris and Joan Howard.

The family would like to thank Cheryl Walker and Jim Randolph for their devotion and special attention to Dorothy and for the wonderful care she received from her caregivers in California.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin; daughter, Mary Rankin; sisters, Beatrice Walters and Ruby Freeman; and sister-in-laws, Mary Powell and Rose Stodola.

Friends may visit Friday, April 14, 2017, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas. A Celebratio­n of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017, 10:00 a. m. at FRENCH – Lomas.
