Richard Allen Palmer, of Corrales, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 4, 2017, at the age 70. He was born in Omaha, NE on January 9, 1947 to Harold and Betty Palmer. Richard attended Grant Union High School in Sacramento CA, where he played trumpet for the marching band. At age 17, he joined the United States Army and served honorably from January 1964 to January 1967. Richard was proud to have visited forty seven of our fifty states and had lived in many of them. In 1980 he fell in love with New Mexico and settled here. He loved music, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, photograph­y and astronomy. A regular Renaissanc­e man, he worked not only as a Union Printer but had an assortment of jobs which ran the gambit from bus driver to auto mechanic to tree surgeon to researcher for fish and game to television repairman.

Richard was preceded in death by his son, David Riley Palmer and his father, Harold Riley Palmer. Richard is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Margi Horn Palmer, his mother Betty L. Palmer and his three children, Richard Allen Palmer, Brian Harris Palmer and Kerry Kathryn Palmer. He is also survived by his sis- ter, Kathryn and brother, Robert and his three granddaugh­ters, Nyah Rain Palmer, Jessica Rachel Palmer and Katrina Marguerite Hatcher. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, many cousins and nieces and nephews. Richard had a deep love for his country, family, animals and friends. We will all miss him & his stories.

Services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87124, with a graveside service to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
